Noob question. Difference between pcie and pcie 2.0

whats the dif, and if the mobo says pcie, can pcie 2.0 also work?

PCI-e2.0 offers double the bandwidth of PCI-e1.1 and it provides more power through the slot than PCI-e1.1. PCI-e2.0 card will work in a PCI-e1.1 slot as they are backwards compatible.
