Which CPU ?

I want to build a new system, but i dont know which cpu to choose, in some charts i see e8500 gets better points than q6600 . so i dont know to get qual or dual core ?
my main purpose is for multmedia works and games, i think i get 4870 vga, p45 chipset motherboard (still didnt chose the model)...
so if you can help me i will be thankful

If you're doing some multimedia processing (video encoding for example), going for quad might be a better choice.

To be honest though, the performance difference between dual cores and quad cores in gaming usually don't exceed 10%, so sometimes its not justified to spend a lot more for a quad core.

Thanks, i heard that q6600 can be easily overclocked and i think i go for it, but q9300 is good too, i have to choose between these two cpus

IF there is any way to wait, The Intel 9xxx quads will have a price drop soon.

Otherwise the Q6600 is a fine choice.

Oh yeah, the Q8200 is a new Intel quad that is very nice.

The Q6600 is usually cheaper than the E8500 and has more potential.
