my new gaming pc $2500+

this is my line up of my completely new pc inc mouse keyboard monitor.

i just screen shotted it from the web site don't worry about the prices to much they are the cheapest around my place.
i would link individual items but the site just links to the home page no matter what
will this system work for high end gaming i will properly get another 280sli when they get cheaper
but the main question is will the system last me two years without any major upgrades i enjoy high end gaming i understand to keep up with the very best its a constant struggle but will this do for 2 years with high res gaming?

Unless I am missing something....what is your MOBO choice?

If your planning on staying with NVidia and doing at some point SLI, your 650W PSU might not be enough. There are several web sites to check the recommended level you need.
You might look in the 750W-850W range. Corsair has a great 750W PSU, but it is not modular. Newegg.com has a great deal on a Antec 850W modular PSU for $140.

I am far from an expert. It seems, however, many here are saying the ATI4780 and ATI4750 are a better bang for the buck c/w the NVidia 260/280. The other thing to consider......if you go NVidia SLI, you will need a NVidia based MOBO (790i, 780, ect....) I am hearing a lot of bitching that those chipsets give people problems.
It seems most rec's here are X48 MOBO chipset and ATI SLI 4780 or 4750. The 4780x2 (two 4780) is coming out in August and supposidly is a beast.

CPU: think tyour choice is overkill. Extreme edition not worth $. If you want Quad core go with 9450. Dual core 8400.

Most here are recommending DDR2 800 memory. 1033 overkill unless you plan to overclock "aggressively"

The processor you listed goes for $550 American dollars at Newegg, and I don't think exchange rate is that poor currently.

Those prices look a little high to me. Especially the vid card, I know they are down around 450 now in the US. They must not be hookin you guys up with that price drop like they did over here. Shop around the ATI cards a bit. I personally have no issues with my nvidia chipset and my nvidia cards. Heard the ATI ones were running a little hot and the drivers werent there yet to help it out. Processor looked a little overkill to me, just get one of the suggestions on here and overclock it a bit. If you do oc, make sure you get an aftermarket heatsink to remove that excess heat.

Everything else looked good to me, the mouse is sweet, thats what i use and NZXT cases are nice.

Be nice, I think it was the honest mistake from someone who guessed at a country before reading the web address etc. Plus we all know Australia is attached to Canada so what is the big deal.

Well you also have to consider that NVIDIA is going to support directx 10.1 in next gen cards so that means games are going to use it and in the long run the 260,280 migth not be worth it. I remember some article on toms about how it is suposed to improve fsp x2 or 1.5

Very doubtful. SLI has never worked like that, cards have to be matched.

so they both have to be from the same range? i cant seem gaming completely ignore dx 10.0 so quickly after the release and its not hard to upgrade i guess... would it be a better option to just got a 9800 and just wait it out how long do you think it will take? i have decided to go with nvid BTW

just checked 9800 are only like 200 dollars cheaper so i might even go 9600... it really depends on what kinda of predictions i get for the support from nvid for 10.1!

i did some research and found that late 08 early 09 for nvid i can wait that long and use a 9600 so the do you guys think the system i have posted will work?

Erg.... you would be cutting alot of performance if you go for the 9600. It would be best to go for the 9800 gx2 or a gtx 280.

You could even go for a 8800 GTX... though I'm not sure what the prices are in Australia.

ok so after some refining this seem to by my finial build comments? i will be going from the 8800 when either the 280 comes down or we get a 10.1 d/x from nvid at the end of this year/start of next year

and a guess on how long i will be able to game on it in around medium settings remember i can upgrade g/c
