i would just like to know which would preform better. i think they're pretty much the same thing right? my pc is coming with 9800gt in sli but i think i might want to "upgrade" (if there is any difference) to a 9800gx2. thanks for the help/info.

If you have it, keep it. The 9800gt's are the same as the 8800gt's. And as previously said 2x 8800gt = 9800gx2

no problem. if u have 2 9800gt keep it. If ur choosing between the 2 i would go with the 9800gx2 because u could sli those later (quad gpu) while the 9800gt would be limited to 2 i believe.
