Non Generic IP for Remote Desktop

So I've installed a Dlink wireless router. Most boxes run wireless, but my main box runs wired off off the router. I want to be able to remote into it but it looks as though I've been assigned some generic Dlink IP address... any way to get a "real" address?

You need to assign a Static IP addresss to the computer.
That address needs to be in the range the router is using for the LAN side.

If you are trying to remote into the computer from the web, you will need to open some ports in the router. Check the users manual for this info.
