My laptop, an HDX 16, hangs at the bios screen after it rebooted on windows 7 install. I intentionally removed the hard drive and powered the laptop, the boot is normal but stops because of the missing hard drive. Now i connected the hard drive to another computer, booted from it then the windows install proceeds and completes. I returned the hard drive to my laptop, but the problem still persists. (hangs at the hp invent bios screen)
I tried pressing f2... the bios responds by showing "f2... System diagnostics" but i can't get to the diagnostics screen.
Please note that I can hear the hard drive rattle (spin up i think) then powers off. the hard drive LED lights up for about 2 seconds then turns off.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? thank you very much in advance.
