So looking further into my random freezes, it looks like windows event viewer is finding each of my lock ups to have this in common:
Event ID: 11 cdrom
I have disconnected my IDE dvd drive in hopes that the random freezing stops. Has anyone else had this problem before? Could this event just be a by-product of the freezing and not the cause?
A description of the problem would be that the computer freezes ( no keyboard or mouse responsiveness whatsoever ) at what are seemingly random times. Sometimes during a game, sometimes while surfing the internet, etc. Looking into windows event viewer I found at the time of every freeze-up that event mentioned above.
For completeness, my build is:
EVGA 790i ultra motherboard
2 x 2GB DDR3 1333 corsair xms3
EVGA 9800 GX2
Seagate 500GB SATA
Intel Q9450
