OK, I have a new ECS GF7050VT
I have 3 hard drives and one DVD-ROM drive that I need to hook up.
I tried using one of those IDE to SATA converters, and the board will not recognize the drive

So I got one of those PCI IDE controllers. I got the Silicon Image SiI 0680 Ultra-ATA/133 Medley RAID Controller

No matter what I do, or what configuration I use, I can only make it see one drive. So total I have my boot drive, and my DVD-Rom drive on the on-board IDE controller, and I have one drive only on the PCI-IDE controller.

I have tried every configuration, I have tried exchanging the controller, I have tried different IDE drives, I have even tried different cables.

Every now and then it will recognize the extra drive on the PCI-IDE controller, but then I get a bunch of delayed read errors.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I really need that extra drive running. I am afraid to invest in a SATA drive if the board will not recognize it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Welcome to the forums!

I think the problem is that you have a RAID controller instead o9f a regular PCI IDE controller.
SATA drives will work fine with that motherboard.

I had not thought of that. I did not think the RAID controller made a difference. I will try picking up a regular PCI-IDE controller.

Any idea why I can not get the SATA controller to recognize the IDE drive with the converter attached?

Many thanks to you.
