My Mobo MSI AMD790X chipset ,430w thermaltake PSU, 2gb adata vitesta cl4 ddr800 up to ddr980 cl4 2.1v

which CPU to buy ??

Opteron (Santa Ana) 1210 90nm 103w 1.4v 2X1mb cache

Athlon64X2 (Windsor) 4600+ 90nm 65w (cz series ) 1.20-1.25v 2X512kb cache

Athlon64X2 (Brisbane) 4050 65nm 45w 1.15-1.25v 2x512kb cache

purely for overclocking to get the best bang for buck,

and best performance in gaming ( brisbane is slower than windsor and opteron clock by clock)

OC at 3ghz up to 3.3ghz if possible

The Opterons will overclock the best......and for gaming, it's still more mhz is always better.
The X2's are a crap shoot. Some will overclock better than others, but none are great overclockers. You won't get any of these stable at 3ghz unless you are running some really good cooling.
My 4600X2 will run solid at 2.8, anything more and you start to have some occasional problems. I am running the stock cooler though.

thanks for the reply !!

Silly me i forgot to mention, i have a Arctic Freezer 64 PRO and some Antec 92mm fans!! for cooling

The 4050 is a solid overclocker - more so than the X2 4600+ on a % basis. Either way I think your max will be 2.7-2.8GHz without taking the volts over the edge. If you get a good X2 4600+ you may reach 2.9-3GHz with your rig.

An X2 5600+ (2.9GHz) or X2 5800+ (3GHz) would get you where you want to go. Sorry they are out of your price range. They are only $2-$12 more than the X2 4600+ in the US ....

dudes i would buy the 5000be but in romania it is 120$ .
not 100$ with some fancy combo , i just cant give that much money for a cpu !!! , those 3 would be my choice , pls advise from those 3 i've posted in the starting of the tread

The 4600x2 is more attractive to me from that selection. I dont think you will get to 3.0g on any of those chips but you can get mid to high 2's. If you OC much you will need an aftermarket cooler. By the time you buy that you would be better to buy a faster stock cpu so maybe you should just go with the 4600x2 and run stock or maybe 200mhz OC only if you cant afford doing more than these cpus cost.

If you arent in a hurry and you have a cpu to use for now I would suggest waiting until you get a few more bucks and get a better cpu from the start...

Hy

i've made the easiest choice , i got to the store and they had some 4450 brisbane , and the 5000+ brisbane , the price was the same , i've bought the 5000+ its G2 stepping , i have already overclocked it, its at 3250mhz at1,38v and burn in test stable max temp 46celsius 12,5 X 260 rams at 928mhz cl4 ,ive got it up to 3385mhz at 1,38v , i haven't had time to experiment , the mobo is an msi k9a2 cf-f amd 790x chipset , so far so good, super pi 1m in 26,5seconds :p m
