Need some opinions.
I have a MSI 865PE Neo2-V That has 3 slots for ram. You can either fill all 3 slots or use 2 slots for dual channel config.
Would 2 gbs of pc3200 ram running in that config be better or worse than If I just filled all 3 slots with the same ram.

My instinct says its better to have 50% more memory but I thought i would ask.

Depending on what OS you're using and what you're doing 2GB of higher performance RAM may be better.

Simply put, if you're, say, using XP-32bit for general or gaming use I'd prolly stick with 2GB in dual channel. If you're using Vista, 3GB in single channel may be better for you than 2GB in dual.

Good point. Yeah I am running 32-bit xp and at this point the aging pc is manly used for internet and older games. Just trying to limp it along for another year.

I may try it both ways and run some benchmarks if i get some free time.

Thanks for your input!!!
