Hard Drive Clicking and Stalling

Hi,

Here are the specs to my laptop:
Intel Core 2 Duo T6400
3 gigs DDR3 RAM
300 gig HD 5400 RPM
Windows 7 32-bit

Symptoms:
Long Windows loading time
Stalling followed by a clicking sound
Chkdsk runs randomly even when not scheduled (no bad sectors are ever found)
Action Center detects "Disk Volume Error"

Ran HD diagnostic, came up clean. This is fresh install so there are no bloatware and running only 50 processes.

Could the HD be going bad even though the diagnostic could not find any errors?

Thanks!

More about hard drive clicking stalling
  1. Get your data off it and replace. Once you get mechanical clicking it's only a matter of time.
