Adding to taskbar

Hello, I want to add face book and mailbox shortcuts(icons) to task bar.I have used the Community toolbar that I downloaded and installed but I find that Another toolbar for two icons is a waste of 'real estate' on my small screen.I am no genius hackmaster but i can follow directions. Any help is really appreciated! THANKS !

first of all, don't download stuff like "community toolbar" into your computer. delete it if you know how, and if it will delete.
any shortcut on the desktop can be dragged down into the toolbar, using the mouse.
so just create a shortcut on the desktop first, then drag the shortcut down into the tool bar, then delete the shortcut from the desktop.
