Planning to install an Asus Rampage Formula with either an E8500 or Q6600 into either my Lian Li PC-60 or PC-70 case and just wanted check to see if anyone has had any problems with fitting a XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 heatsink with this combo?

Does the fan wind up oriented front to back or top to bottom?

Any estimations on how far I could push either of these CPUs as far as a conservative (read: very minimal overvolting) OC with this cooler and Arctic Silver 5?

Fan orientation to the front. Make sure you get the bolt in kit for that!

the bolt-kit isn't necessary, but it will definately save you some frustration.

if the e8500 is anything like the e8400, you should be able oc to 3.8 on stock volts.

i would also recommend mx-2 instead of as5. you get the same performance if not 1 C better plus you get more for the dollar. no curing period either.

The heatsink is 159mm height, while the case is 210mm... once you bring in the 2 side panel thicknesses the gap between motherboard tray and side panel. The board mountings , motherboard thickness, and then CPU it will be tight fit
