Need help with SATA drive

I need help installing a WD Caviar Black 1TB SATA drive in my computer with a IWILL DK8X motherboard. I just want to use the drive as storage as I have a 136GB SCSI drive as my boot drive with an adaptec card installed. if i turn the sata controller on in the bios and reboot it locks up as soon as it sees drive and then just sits there with a flashing cursor. and then i can not get back into the bios until i unhook the sata drive.

Just plug in sata from your HDD to your port on your motherboard and plug in the power from your PSU to your hard drive. Then turn on your computer. Should have the storage there. This should be plug and play.

It is plugged into the #2 sata port on MB. if i go into the bios and turn on the sata controller and then reboot it hangs as soon as it sees the drive, and then i can not get back into the bios with out unpluging the drive.
