So, I am helping a friend build a new system and were looking at a raid 10 for the speed and redundancy. (using an ASUS P7P55d EVO onboard raid)

The last one of these I built was using the WD Black 640's without the TLER issue (7/2009), but from what I read now, these are not an option as they might drop at random with the new firmware in place.

Not wanting to go to the Raid Edition drives, what are some alternative drives you all have been using with good success? Are any of the Seagate 7200.12's any good? I have had bad luck with the .9 and .10 line, so I have looked for other drives.

Were trying to keep the usable space around 1-2 tb, so $ wise were trying not to spend over $350 on the drives...

Any comments are appreciated..
