Hello everyone, I just did a re-install today, and even though it went fine I have a few concerns/questions. I'll start by listing my key components, then the things I need help with. I should say I am not new to computers, but I have never overclocked and don't want to. I am too cautious and have too little money to risk frying stuff.

GA-MA78GM-S2H motherboard
AMD X2 5200
OCZ Vendetta 2
Buffalo Firestix (Pyro) 4G-kit - FSX1066D2C-K4G
Antec Three Hundred Chassis (140mm top fan, 120mm rear fan, two 120mm front fans)

Now, I changed the Ram settings to manual and 5-5-5-15 (2T), which is what they are supposed to be. The ram is running at 800, but I can only do 1066 with an AMD2+ CPU. Hey, it works I can't complain. I left the CPU timings alone (remember, I don't overclock) and everything seems nice and stable. Now, onto my concerns:

1 - I plugged the two front fans onto the case fan header on the M/B. They are Antec PWM fans that you can chain together onto a single header. I was thinking this would be good because I could set the speed of both fans using the case fan header. No need for a fan controller. Now, in the BIOS I left the auto fan control on for both, thinking I could use either easytune or speedfan to control the fan speeds. However, using speedfan the damn thing will not ramp up the fan speeds much. The CPU is running at 35c at idle, which is darn nice, but the fan is also running at 130 RPM or so.

I hit the automatic fan speed box on the main screen and the automatically variated box in the speed tab.

For the CPU I changed the "ideal temp" in speedfan to 30c, and the minimum speed to 30%. I understood that doing so would kick the fan up to 30% until the CPU reached a temp of 30c. yet, the fan is still running at 125 RPM. I did this for the two front fans and they don't even turn at all! What I would like to do is keep the two front fans running at around 300RPM along with the CPU fan.

I know it is running cool right now but I really want good control of the fans.

2 - is the HT Link Frequency in the Bios good on auto? Should I set that to 2.7 to match the CPU? I seem to remember the 2.7 referring to the multiplyer? I forget and could be totally wrong.

That's it for now I guess. Thanks for reading and I hope the quesions are not too dumb.
