Boot problems

Hello,
My hard drive keeps failing to boot up due i believe to boot record issues. I always have a cloned copy of my hard drive and am able to use this without fault. I am using the cloned drive with the other 'C' drive as a slave. I can access all files that i need but i would like to copy the working boot file to the failed 'C' (slave) drive. How do i do it please?

follow the directions posted in this forum, fourth post from the top. do a REPAIR install of windows XP.
