Hey everyone, i have a comp from 2003 i'm upgrading soon, so meanwhile i thought id take the chance to play around with my current obsolete rig and try some overclocking, but i can't find a good tutorial to do it with an older cpu and motherboard like the ones i have, heres a list of the relevant stats:
what frequency? that depends on each chip and the cooling you have
i don't recommend OC'ing the old athlons on stock cooler
OC'ing the old athlon in a nutshell:
1: lower ht multi and ram speed to the lowest
2: raise the base clock of the machine by about 10
3: go into windows and use prime95 for stability and core temp for cpu temp
4: if stable go back to step 2
5: if not stable and low temp raise voltage and go to step 2
6: if temp getting towards high side no more OC (about 1.45v or 1.5v should be max on a good cooler)
7: raise ram and ht link until unstable than down one notch
