Hi there;
As u know my lovely 7300gt was broken,so i decided to get a new vga..
I aint spend that much money..Currently i use this system with Aopen h600b's psu(which is prolly made by fsp)400w(it rox so far)
-intel e6600
-asus p5b
-2 gb kingston ram
-2 hdd
-1 optic drive

My main concern is about psu.I need a card which wont have troubles with my psu.Thats why i ve been thinking about Palit 8800 GT sonic..http://www.palit.biz/en/products/nv_pcie_8800GT-Sonic.htm
i checked out 9800 gt but.im pretty sure it ll cause problems with my psu.I cant afford to spend for psu atm.
So whats ur opinions? will i be able to run 8800gt properly?
If not,i mean that psu cant handle similar cards like 8800 gt..I may get 8600 gt sonic to save money exactly:/

thanks in advance..

edit: oh i just found out that my psu wasnt produced by fsp:/

The 8800GT and 9800GT are the same thing.

You need to get full specs on that power supply, especially the +12v rating. A 400W could go either way with 17 amp 12v (too little) to near 30 amp 12v (more than enough). There should be a label on the PSU itself that tells you max 12v.

Aight.I just write what i see at label on the psu..
+12v2=15.0A(yel/black),+5Vsb==2.0A(purp),12V==0.50A
Oh damn it seems lame.15A aint enough,right?
So i d go for 8600 gt or similar one: /

Well, if you have a +12v2, you must have a +12v1 (two +12v rails). See if in watts or amps it mentions max combined +12v. The tricky thing is, on some power supplies, the max combined 12v = the sum of the two 12v rails. But other times, the max combined is way less than the sum of the two rails. The better brands tell you the max combined right on them.

I see..8800 gt may work but can cause problems,myb overheating in the case.Im not good at psu issues.Anyways which card would i get for reasonable performance at games?can 9600 GT work well?

Not enough info on the PSU to tell you what cards will work or not. Your 7300GT consumes very little power, so it's not very useful for determining what will work. If you don't mind the possibility you will need a new PSU(stability issues will tell you this), then go for an 8800GT or 9600GT(if cheaper). Otherwise, get more info on the PSU. +12v of both rails (max 12v if possible), and also, does it have any 6-pin pci-e power connectors? If not, you may want to go with an 8600GT that doesn't need an external power cable.

Appreciated pal.u r da man :) I just found out some infos about psu.(Japanese website rox :D )
http://aopen.jp/products/power/ao400-12ahn.html
As u can see; +12V1DC can produce 14A and second rail +12V2DC can make 15A as well.I aint go for 8800 GT..shall i give a shot for 9600GT?im gonna decide it after ur reply.
Btw it doesnt have any 6-pin pci-e power connectors thats why I'll try to get a card which comes with it like axle or asus

The 9600GT would be a safer bet as it does consume less at load. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/nvidia-geforce-9600-gt,1780-18.html

But, I still won't guarantee it will work for you though as your max 12v may be way less than the sum of the two rails.
