Hello!

I've ordered a Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 Yorkfield 3.0GHz quad core proccessor with two Asus 4870x2 video cards, I've read all the threats about the diffrence between the 8/16 slots for crossfire, but still there are so many choices.

I'm wondering whats the best motherboard that is comfortable and can maximize performance of these components (I'm gonna use DDR3 memory), if anyone could give me a specific model name i'll greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance

x48 by far...

due to scaling issues, 2 4870x2 might degrade overall performance.... if you wanna see even a MINIMAL increase in performance, you should be played at 2560x1600....

...honestly, with all that money just blown on a c2e, and 2 4870x2, i wudda just waited for nehalem

Thanks for your reply, could you point me to a specific model? that would be great.

As for waiting for the new processors...technology evolves nonstop, i rather just buy a high end computer now that would satisfy me in the long run :)

Go for a X38 or X48 from Gigabyte or Asus.

The ASUS Rampage Formula is a great MB. It has the X48 chipset and supports 16x/16x crossfire and overclocks great. The Rampage Extreme is the DDR3 version of the Rampage Formula.
