Hello All,

Considering purchasing another GTX 280 for my system when the price is right. Currently I have a Q6600 overclocked to 3.0GHZ. If I purchase another GTX280 will this push the limitations of bandwith the Q6600 will support? I have a XFX 780i motherboard so I can upgrade to 45nm if I need to. Please let me know what you all think.

Thank you,

The processor will/is the bottleneck, but that is not to say you wont see a big performance boost by adding another card.

Switching to 45 NM will give you more overclocking, power, and heat breathing room so if you have the cash, go for it (it will still be a bottleneck in certain situations)

Thanks for the reply! To be more specific with my question; Would a Yorkfield Q9*** 45nm be less of a bottleneck than a Q6600? Logically I believe the answer is no, but it makes sense that a faster clock speed would cause less of a bottleneck. The XFX 780i overclock is great. I can acheive 1600mhz FSB, but I'm not sure thats where the problem would be.

Thanks in advance.
