I have an nVidia 8600 GTS and i love it, but the maximum my display settings will go up to is 1440x900 and i'd like to be able to push it up to the 1600x1200 or so for my game, Is there any software im missing or is it my monitor, im using a 20" flat panel and a local LAN center can get theres to 1680x1200 or something using 20" so would like to see if anybody here can help me

Are you sure monitor has more pixels than 1440x900? Probably not. Your graphics card detects the native resolution of your monitor and will set it as the highest setting in the nvidia control panel.
There can be two kinds of 20'' monitors: ones at 1440x900 and others at 1680x1050 or so.

If your LCD is limited to 1440*900 you can't go higher than that. Please list the LCD model.

Btw, forget gaming at 1600*1200 (with med settings) for most games (ie. CoD4,Crysis, AoC) with that card.

Control Panel -> Display settings -> Monitor.

It is possible to enable all display resolutions by uninstalling current monitor driver and install a general monitor driver. But the picture may appear blurry or just display partially. So there's really no point. No way around hardware limitations.
