Hi guys... are my core temps stuck or is this normal?

CPU was idle when I took this screenshot.

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r303/8v975v57/temp.jpg

Note: I read that on cpu load, both temps just be about the same, but I ran Orthos and occt for quite a while and I always have a difference of +/- 5 degrees. Max is 66 / 61 C.

the weird thing is that when I check the sensor movement they seem to be the same.. but right after that I get that 5 diff again.

If you need more information or want me to perform a different test, please tell me.

Oh.. C0 stepping if that helps.

Thanks!

It doesn't look like they're stuck, I don't have much experience with Vista so I don't know how it handles multi-cores, but can you not set affinity in the task manager? i.e. right click process>set affinity and then uncheck Core0 to see if it gets to a higher temp then? My only guess is that the second core isn't being worked as hard. My E8400 maxes out at 50c on both cores using realtemp (2.60) and XP SP3, latest Orthos.

I have the same issue with my e8400. I get the same 1 or 2 digits off via the sensor movement test, and there is always a 5 degrees difference between cores no matter what I do. I reapplied my thermal paste; readjusted my fan; changed the orientation of my fan; and lapped my fan. Nothing changes. I've just kind of just accepted that it is what it is.

But your core temps of 66/61 scare me. Is your system OC'd? Stock fan? Vcore? Mine is pretty well OC'ed, idles at 33/38, and is at about 55/60 at full load.

Re: Dirk. I really have to question the mental state of someone taking the time to write such a post. What a schmuck--but perhaps they simply cannot help it. Someone that off-kilter really needs their keyboard license revoked.

Hi there husky mctarflash..

got those temps while running OCCT...

It's OC'd at 3.4ghz 8.5 x 400 FSB

weird thing is that my vcore is at 1.17v

Arctic freezer 7

I guess I'll reapply the grease and stuff and see what happens..

Wow--I am jealous about that VCore--I need a full 1.35 to be stable at 3.85.

I remember reading that many CPUs do not like an even 400 FSB, and it results in higher temps. Dunno--my old e2180 loved it.

I am at a loss. Hopefully some of our more experienced comrades will have a solution...
