I am looking for a new motherboard for my Q6600 and I can't decide between the P35 or P45 boards. I am not a big gamer so I don't need SLI or crossfire. Would like good OC options but need a very reliable board. Something in the £70 ($150) pricerange would be great.
As far as I can see the only real improvement with P45 is the PCIe 2 but I don't really need this so is there any point given that the chipset is newer and probably not as well tested / reliable.
So I am leaning towards P35 but not sure. What boards can you recommend for that?
Personally, id go with the Gigabyte. Better cooling on the NB and mosfets. I own the P5Q Pro, I removed the NB/side mosfet piece, it was useless. I replaced them with thermalright pieces, and put one on a top row of Mosfets, which is bare out of the box. They 2 thermalright mosfet pieces get rather warm with a Q6600 @ 3.2ghz, so youre gonna need that cooling. If I could go back I would have gotten that Gigabyte board if it was out at the time.
