More about would work great together
  1. I also want to try and use an older hard drive so i dont have to reinstall all my software and loose all my documents would these work with XP? All comments appreciated! Thanx again
  2. Hard drive ? WD 640 maybe
Serious overkill on the power supply. A Corsair 750w or PC Power and Cooling would be more than enough and save you big $
other suggestions would be a X38/X48 motherboard and a HD4850 in crossfire.
  3. Wheres the HD4850?
  4. From his post
"or if you have any suggestions on a better part."
  5. yeah
  6. So is Crossfire more liked then SLI?

And on a hard drive i was wanting to use an older one I have had with XP and all my software on it. If i feel i need more space I could always get a slave drive. (but if you feel i do need to part ways with it please let me know for I havent built a computer in 3 years and that was my first build - It did come out great though, used it till now).

For the power supply deal thanks ill get the 750w :)

Any more comments or ideas are appreciated! Thanks
  7. Yea crossfire is more liked because you can use intel's boards with it and the SLI chipset is a pain. When crossfire scale's it scales better than SLI.
  8. Thanks so now my set up is

    Corsair 750w
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006

Asus Rampage Formula X48 LGA 775 ATX Intel
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131284

    OCZ Platinum 4GB (2GB x2) 240 Pin DDR2-1066 PC2 8500
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227298

    Sapphire HD 4870 512Mb 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0x16 HDCP Crossfire
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102748

The rest is the same as above. These should all work together right?
  9. this is what someone told me but im just passing this info onto you. I heard that people have problems with the DDR2-1066 and to stick with the 800 and also you will save some money
  10. Looks rly good except you might consider changing your case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129021
I have this case it is awsome keeps things cool, thier is enough space cuz honestly if it is cramed I get so mad.. aff just me .
  11. what are you planning to do for a Mother board? is the mother board i have set up for crossfire? I dont know much on this crossfire stuff. :/

Ill stick with 800 then instead of the 1066 and thanks for the video card tip :)
  12. thats a really neat case! How quiet is it? I really like the number and size of the fans :)
  13. I don't hear a thing from it

since it is a bigger fan it does not to go as fast to achive same air flow as a small fan. I put my hand near it and it is like air conditioning. :pt1cable: + almost 3k reviews you will not regret it :)
  14. was the power hook ups okay? the only thing i worry is with the power supply on the bottom... besides that i might have to get one myself :P
  15. I Didn't think much of it power supply bein gong on the bottom was better acutally because the cold air tends to be lower and keeps powersupply rly cool :). I didn't have any trouble at all and did some cable management as well :)
  16. I have a high end case myself, but on a budget I would say these things are most important in a case:

    1. airflow and fans
    2. room, including all three dimensions. You want to be able to fit in the big CPU coolers
    3. Looks. And remember, it might look real pretty on newegg but when it arrives you might discover it's made from cheap plastic and be disappointed.

Antec 900 is an excellent choice, for the price.
  17. thanks guys im gunna go ahead and pick that case. Soooo....

    I decided so far on

Is this okay to build? Yay, Nay, Maybe if you replace this with... Oh just as an FYI its going to be a workstation for photo editing and working in adobe flash. It also will have two monitors be used for gaming as well. Thanks.
  18. Here's a good set of RAM, the best timings on any cas 5 at 1.8V: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820146731

Oh and here's the best burner on NewEgg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151173

Also, for the cooler, I suggest this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233003
    with the mounting bracket: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233019
    it's a really good deal.

Note that if you do switch to the Xigmatek, you need thermal paste: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835100007

You might want to get one of the 4870's with a remote, it's like $15 more. Just an option =]

Everything looks great. If you want to save some money on the mobo you can go with this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128336

  20. Looks great :D, Though if you can wait couple of 2 weeks get 4870x2 or just purchase everything else and just wait for it.
