One step up from an ATi Radeon 4850?

I was looking at some nice cards, I decided I want better perf and everything then the 4850
what is the next higher up then it performance-wise

Keep in mind I do play at resolutions of 1280x1024
so I don't need absolute top of the line.

The 4850 is the absolute best you can have at your resolution and price point, and is overall a great card. "One step up" is the 4870, then at more than twice the price the Nvidia GT280.

(EDIT) Gee why the Hell do you have to keep making new threads on this? I feel suckered in because you've already had this question answered.

Yeah, HD 4870 would be more powerful. It's overkill at your resolution though. So are GTX 260, 9800GX2 and GTX 280. All 4 are a lot more expensive than the HD 4850 too. Stick with the HD 4850, great bang for the buck there.

Yes. Here are some benchmarks for a single HD 4850:
http://www.techspot.com/review/103-asus-radeon-4850/page4.html

Crysis, 42 fps at 1440x900, 35 fps at 1680x1050. I'm guessing over 50 fps at 1280x1024.
Devil May Cry 4: 161 fps at 1440x900, guessing 200 fps at 1280x1024
Quake wars: 146 fps (127 fps with lots of AA/AF)
SupCom: 68 fps at 1440x900
UT3: 151 fps at 1440x900
World in Conflict: 56 fps at 1440x900

Keep in mind that a monitor can usually display 60 fps or 75 fps at most, if it's a LCD. If CRT, maybe 100. Also, these numbers are for 1440x900. At 1280x1024 you'll get more fps.

Get a better monitor, at least a 22". Preferably a fast 24" Then you can start another 19 threads.

You have been given proper information in all 19 threads (19 threads! All on the same topic!), at the resolution that you run the 4850 is the best bang for the buck. Every thread... Yet you keep looking for something else. OK, here's 'something else': Get a Quattro.

So I take it that you no longer live in Canada, and no longer require the wheelchair?

lmao, I take it your a nerd croc haha,

but anyway the real reason I DON'T want the 4850 is because of my previous ATi problems in my past, alright!

So I'd prefer going with an NVIDIA GEFORCE solution.

preferable >300 closer to 200 and better then an 8800ultra

How about this, instead of wasting everyone's time asking the same question, go look up benchmarks for yourself and make your own decision.

You have proven in your 19 threads (yes 19.....) that you have a severe mental handicap when it comes to making decisions. If 100% of your repliers told you to get a certain card, I am certain you would still start a new thread looking for advice that you are not ever going to consider.

There are people on this site that have legitimate problems and actually want answers, so stop flooding the forums with useless and wasteful posts.

You need help my friend!!!

mf2385... get a gtx 260 then... you can get similar performance to a 4870 (more if you OC it) and you can get them for about 250 now...

also another thing... once you get it... promise me something... ok?

Don't

I take it that you are a spoiled brat with a 'decision complex' problem, hahaha lol idk.

So get a 9800 gtx+. Should now be in your price range, and is not made by ATI, so you should be good to go. Of course, it uses more heat than a 4850, as well as more power and will not preform as good overall, but at least it is not an ATI.

And as GrapeApe has already said, gather your thoughts and consolidate your questions into 1 or 2, not 19 different threads. I'll not again reply to one of your threads, and soon many more experienced users will also tire of your childish tactics. Good luck, goodbye and good riddance.

Agreed Grom. This is getting ridiculous. I spent a good deal of time answering questions regarding the GTX 280 etc to no avail.

I can't believe how many threads you have started, and how little you care to listen to anyone's advice.

Please start 1 thread, maybe 2 and do so in the spirit of the forums. Please do not take advantage of these forums.
