If it were yours.. which would you choose?

I've got a new build on the way,, here's the basics...

e8500 dual core
4870 GPU (hopefully adding a 2nd in the future)
4 gig's ram
2 x 640gb WD set up in raid

Now once it's built I've go to choose what OS to install. I have both XP 64 bit and Vista ultimate (sadly not 64 bit).


If you were in my shoes... which would you choose? I just can't bring myself to spend any more money to buy a 64bit version of Vista.. so which is it.. 64 bit XP or 32 bit Vista?

XP 64 to keep the extra memory.

Or install both, that is a large hard drive anyway.

1. e8500 dual core
Get a Zalman CNPS9700, Scythe Orrochi or Xigmatek HDT-S1283 and then OC it.

2. 4870 GPU (hopefully adding a 2nd in the future)
Definitely get the second one if the PSU is still enough (650-850W)

3. 4 gig's ram
This should be enough.

4. 2 x 640gb WD set up in raid
Get an extra HDD to back up your data, there are risks from RAID configuration. Or don't RAID 'em.

5. Get 64-bit VISTA businness or ultimate. reasons :
a. XP is old, why don't you learn to use the new one.
b. Those 4GB can only be used effectively under 64bit OS
Tips : If you still have your old 32-bit XP, you can still use your old one.
