i have windows xp sp3 and it doesn't detect my foxconn onboard pci-e realtek lan. doesn't show up in device manager and installing the drivers does nothing. bios shows the mac address as ff-ff-00-00-00-00. anyone know what's going on?

What Foxconn motherboard and is the LAN enabled in the BIOS?

a78ax-s (socket am2/am2+)
and yes enabled in bios
updated to latest bios and didn't help

You know, I'm pretty sure that's NOT a valid MAC address. I'm guessing the LAN chip on your board is dead. You may want to RMA it if you can, or just add a separate LAN card.

Most likely a defective onboard LAN. Foxconn = poor quality, could be a reason why Foxconn is discontinueing motherboard sales under their own name. Try a cheap LAN card to see if the onboard is defective.

Your mac address certainly seems incorrect. In this case, resetting the BIOS might help.

Does the PC attempt to boot from the LAN if you enable it?
