I currently have a X2 5200+ OC @ 3Ghz with 4gigs of OCZ XTC PC8000 and a x1950pro 2xWD Raptors 16mb raid0 and Vista 64-bit... ...
I plan to buy another 4gig of ram soon...
Anyways i can keep the memory for another setup if needed... But i want to wait a little ;)
and power is not an issue...

I was wondering if this setup could deliver enought processing power to enjoy a 4870 to its "max" potential in gaming at 1680x1050

Do you need a Quad??? No

I bought a Quad 'cause I encode video and do heavy multi-tasking which means doing the following all at the same time:

1. Encode video
2. Play a game
3. Encode music
4. Downloading (this actually does not require much CPU resources)

If you plan to do all four of the above more often than not then by all means buy a Quad. If you're just gonna be playing games and some downloading, then no.

Very enlightning, thanks!

Hope it had some old s939's processors or P4's in it...

Cheers!
