I recently bought a computer with the following setup:
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz LGA 775 Quad-Core Processor Model BX80562Q6600 - Retail
GPU: VisionTek 900250 Radeon HD 4870 X2 2GB 512-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card
PSU: CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply
Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-EP45-DS3R LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
Tower: RAIDMAX AZTEC ATX-619WU Black/ Blue 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST31000340AS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
RAM: OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ2RPR10664GK - Retail
Cooler: ZEROtherm ZEN FZ120 120mm CPU Cooler - Retail

I had to switch out hard drives to get some old files off it. After switching it back out when I closed the case it knocked some of the power cables for the fans out. I put the fan cables back in and the power cable from the PSU ending caught on fire. The ending had like a CPU fan cable coming out of the adapter (or what ever you called it).
I've also been having problems overclocking the computer (I'm sorta new to it). Is the PSU defective? What should I do!? :(

I'll try getting a picture of it when I get home.

Okay .. I'll get it as soon as I get home. The thing like turned red and smoked all over. Had to pull out the plug. After that I left one fan unplugged and started it back up. Not sure exactly if the fan was the reason or something (haven't tried it). It wasn't the entire cord.

Maybe it's the wall socket? >.> It's bothing me that I've had so many problems with the computer.

I don't smell a troll; I smell a shoddy connector on a cheap fan, shorting out the single 12V rail of that PSU. The description of what exact cable or connector burned isn't super-clear, however, so yes a pic would help.

The cables on the PSU didn't fit very well into the case's fan cables. It was a really bad connection (I had to move it around while it was in the plug for it to work. Hrmph.

Well, if by any circunstance the 12V touched the GRD, well, fried PSU and fan. At the very least. I don't wanna even think of that possibility.

The computer still is working fine. Haven't had problems using it at all. I just want to make sure that if I ever change a part my computer won't blow up. I don't want a burnt cable.
