Hi guys,

I've spend every day during last two weeks reading this forum to create a solid gaming build for reasonable money. I want to thank you all for your constructive responses to my questions in various areas and I'd like to ask you to confirm my selection before I proceed with the purchase on wednesday. Note that I'm from UK and I'll shopping on ebuyer so I'd glad if you searched that site for optional components instead of Egg. Before naming the components, I'd like to state that I'm pretty sure to go with a Intel porcessor and ATI Crossfire GPU because those seem to be the best performance/money solution nowadays. The build price should not exceed £850. Here we go:

GPU
PowerColor HD 4870 512MB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDTV Out PCI-E Graphics Card £174.97
I wanted Sapphire rather, but it's out of stock. For the beginning, I'll buy only one of these, however I'm planing to upgrade within a year to crossfire
MOBO
Gigabyte GA-X48-DS4 iX48 Socket 775 8 channel audio ATX Motherboard £142.36
Supports crossfire, easy to OC, reasonable price
CPU
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 (3.16GHz) Socket 775 Wolfdale 1333FSB 6MB L2 Cache Retail £133.95
I've decide to go with 2 cores as for same money 2 cores provide better performance than 4 and I don't see that changing any time soon
RAM
Corsair 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 XMS2 DHX Memory Non-ECC Unbuffered CL4(4-4-4-12) Lifetime Warranty £70.00
nice timings, 800 Mhz is all I need to OC the cpu up to 3.8 Ghz.
CPU Cooler
Arctic Cooling AC-FRZ-7P Freezer 7 Pro Socket 775 Processor Cooler £15.49
PSU
Hiper 780W Type-M Ultra 85% Efficient PSU - 4x 6pin PCI-E, 2x 8pin PCI-E, ATX P4/P8, 4x SATA £76.60
I know it doesn't sound very well known but I've read some good reviews and I'll be glad if you prove me wrong
Case
which one???
NZXT Tempest Steel Mid Tower Case - No PSU £68.99
Antec P182 Gunmetal Grey Super Mid Tower Case - No PSU £75.99
Antec Nine Hundred 900 - Gaming Case with 200mm Top Fan - No PSU £66.65
HDD
Samsung HD753LJ 750GB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm *32MB Cache* - OEM £58.73
Samsung HD753LJ 750GB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm *32MB Cache* - OEM £58.73

I'm planning to use Vista 64. Please share with me your suggestions. Thank you.

I think the 900 is the best of the cases you've chosen.
For the cooler, you should look at the Xigmatek S1283. It's better than the Freezer 7 Pro, but bigger, so make sure you buy the mounting bracket Xigmatek makes. Also, get some Arctic Silver 5 for it.
About the PSU, you might be right, I don't know much about Hiper, but if it has multiple +12V rails, you're better off going with a Corsair 650 or 750TX so you don't have to worry about balancing amps. They're the best PSU's for the price in my opinion.
The 32MB cache doesn't really make a difference. Mostly it helps in synthetic benchmarks, with no real application. Consider the WD Caviar 640GB. It's one of the best drives for performance and size for the price.

I wanted to go with Xigmatek S1283 and Corsair 750W but none of those is available on ebuyer :( . Fortunately the 640 Gb WD is available, I'll have a look at it.

thanks!
