Hey guys just seeing if anyone has a clue what the hell is wrong with this computer.

So my dad bought a computer off of newegg a gs-900 ibuypower (yea i know i told him not too but he did anyways) and its been the biggest headache ever. So the first computer he received would constantly disconnect from the internet and would completely freeze on installations and downloads. It also won't let me download windows updates, it comes up with an error that has no solution online...didn't know if that was relevant. So he RMA'd it. The second computer also came in with the same problem so I came to home from college to take a look at it. At first I figured it was the hdd or NIC because it froze when the there was heavy usage on the hdd or internet. Ibuypower also sent him an extra motherboard and cpu so I switched them out and it had the same problem. I then tried a known to be working 160gb IDE hdd (didnt have any spare sata hdd's) with no luck. I've also tried a different copy of vista premium and a different dvd drive with no luck on those either. So I have replaced every single part in this PC to find out it still has the same problem. Does anyone know of anything else I can possibly try? Any help would be much appreciated.

Tell him to stop downloading porn. His computer is probably littered with trojans/spyware etc.

If you had the problem with the first computer, had the problem with the second computer, and STILL have the problem after replacing most of the hardware in the 2nd computer, then it's most likely user error.

Thanks for your replies.

I forgot to mention that I tried each stick of RAM by itself and ran MEMTEST for about 5 hrs with no errors. I checked the voltage and its set to 1.88v which is default and the only other options for this is 2.0v+. I could not find the timings.

I tried the evga drivers from the website and I also tried updating the bios. After both I still get disconnected from the internet and still can't download windows updates. It also still freezes when I'm downloading a file or installing a program.

I tried updating my routers firmware but that didn't help (didn't figure it would since my laptop stays connected all the time). I didn't see anything on FAQ so I'm posting in ibuypowers support forum.

Seboj- it was a fresh install of windows for both times. I even tried reformatting with the disc they gave us. So I seriously doubt its a user error. btw its a little hard to download porn when the internet is constantly disconnecting and you have to reset the NIC or restart your computer.

Ok so I replaced the NIC and it seems that everything is fixed. It allows me to download updates and I stay connected to the internet. I also haven't experienced any freezing or lock ups. I guess that there was a compatibility issue with the on board NIC's unless all three motherboards' NICs were messed up. Thanks. for everyones help
