Extreme Build Help!

Hey Guys,

I'm looking to build a new rig tomorrow, gaming, benchmarking and overclocking (air-only, no Water or anything else) are the primary goals of the machine. I'm not too concerned about price at all, just want to build something rock solid and stable that will churn out good benchmark results and play anything current or upcoming.

So far the only thing I know for sure is that I'm going to go with the X48 chipset, most likely the Asus Rampage Formula and the Antec Twelve Hundred case. And I'm planning to take out the Razer Barracuda out of the old rig.

I can salvage parts from my old rig if need be:

Case: Antec 900
Power: Antec Truepower Quattro 850
Mobo: EVGA nForce 680i SLI 775 AR
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (Stock Cooler, OC'd to 2.8 GHz)
Ram: 4GB (4x1GB) DDR2 (Corsair XMS2)
GFX 1: evga 8800 GTX (Stock Cooler)
GFX 2: evga 8800 GTX (Stock Cooler)
HDD: 2 x 500GB SATA2
Sound: Razer Barracuda
Optical: Samsung DVDRW thingy.

What I've kinda figured out so far:

Case: Antec Tweleve Hundred
Power: (Carried Over from Previous) Antec Truepower Quattro 850
Mobo: Asus Rampage Formula

y does that need upgrading, it looks like it should be able 2 run just about anything you can throw at it anyway
What resolution do u play at?
I would recomend waiting for the X58 boards , Nehalem and the new Nvidia cards unles u are in a sudden need 2 upgrade

if you hafta upgrade, just get an e8400 and oc it, your rig looks good now.

I agree. You've got a pretty nice rig there that surely can handle almost everything out there. Don't spend the cash now. Wait until Fall/Winter and check out Nehalem.

i was going to buy this but they ran out of stock it looks amazing but is extremly cool check out zalman main site and have a read.

i opted for the p182 instead and im s l o w l y building an air cooled rig in it lol and im going to mod the case for more fans etc.

I'll be building a new rig come Nehalem, that's not an issue. I'm just no longer winning in terms of benchmark scores amongst my friends, and that is an issue that needs to be resolved.
