I have found a stable OC that I am satisfied with. Do I now enable EIST and CE1. I have thought it through, seems to me that only using the higher clock when needed, gentler on system, but I have read that the fluctuation in speed is hard on the system. Sage advice O learn-ed ones plz.

E6850 @ 3.51 (390x9)
vcore 1.344 (vdrop 1.33, vdroop 1.31)
Gigabyte GA-EP35C-DS3R
Artic Cooling V8 HSF
Temps 29c/47c
prime 95 v25.8 x64, 6 hrs no errors/warnings

I OC so I can play games better (as in FSX ) and do most everything else my PC does faster as well. All this based on my satisfaction.

Heck, if I did not want to stress my PC I wouldn't OC in the first place stable or not 'cause when you use it, it will stress the rest of the system any ways. Thats compared to my PC being stock as opposed to being OC'd and all things equal.

Now a days if you buy quality parts and do reasonable OC'n your PC should out last its current statis and you'll be up grading to something else.

Just my 2 cents. :)

Yes. Reduces power usage, which, more importantly, reduces temperatures.

Thanks jsc,

I know I still have a little headroom, but this is an older gaming/modeling rig. I appreciate the brief answers. It's been two years since I built this, and just to clarify, the HSF is a AC Freezer 7. I am building a new system right now, and I swapped the 80 mm rear fan for an Antec tri color 120 mm, and have dropped my temps another 3 c . thanks again for the short no BS answers.
