If you want to try and recover the content from off your hard drive then I would recommend finding a bootable iso program off the internet to see what you can recover. Here is a link to a list of data recovery software: http://majorgeeks.com/downloads38.html ; I don't know how many are bootable or not. Or you could try downloading the ultimate boot CD : http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ I don't know if anyone else has a better idea than this, but that's all I got.
