Raid 1 Slow read

Hello,

First time poster long time reader.

I have run in to an odd issue with my raid1 set up

I am getting very inconsistent read speeds from my array.

I am getting as little as 10 MB read while my write tops out at about 100.

This is a dell 9200

Vista 64 sp2

Running q6700 CPU, 4 gigs of ram.

The array is not the system drive.
Its is built using twin Seagate ST31000340as drives. (unpatched since their purchase because the seagate tools can't see them once they are in the array.)

All drive performance features are on since my system is connected to an UPS.

The only thing that seems to have made any difference is turning off "volume write back cache" in the intel matrix software. (This makes no sense since it should have slowed it down not sped it up.)

Appreciate any help I can get.

Regards,
Paul
