I keep on seeing sales of variant types of DVI cables from DVI-I, DVI-D, and DVI-3 DVI-5. I assume DVI-3 DVI-5 is the newest of the standards. But do these standards mean, and when it comes down to buying the cable between a DVD-D or DVI3 or DVI5 cable, is there much of a difference?

Next question what ever happend to: Unified Display Interface (UDI)?

UDI's DEAD, got suplanted by DisplayPort.

For DVI this should help;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface

Essentially

DVI-A = DVI Analogue (like my P260 has)
DVI-D = DVI Digital
DVI-I - Intergrated (both A+D)

Main thing to worry about for cables it Single Link and Dual link, most cables are DVI-I to DVI-I.
