system specs
os- winxp 64 bit prof. edition
cpu- phenom x4 9600 @ 2.3mhz black edition
card- evga geforce gts 250 512mb
mobo- m4n72-e (nforce 750 sli chipset)
mem- 4g ddr2
psu- hex-c 600w continuous at 40 degrees celsius?(no idea what what means)

basically, i play wow and whenever im in a 25 man raid and we engage a boss, my framerate plummets from about 20 fps to around 5. ive tried putting my res. at the minimum widescreen setting which is 1200x1000 or something, and my video settings on possible lowest settings. doesnt affect my framerate at all. when in a 5 man group or just flying around, i get around 60 fps constant. i also play call of duty world at war, and very rarely if ever have any sort of lag playing at 1920x 1080 on highest settings.
the graphics on world of warcraft compared to the graphics of all the other games ive played w/ no fps problems is huge, so i can only guess its an issue w/ my processor bottlecapping my card? i dont know how to overclock my processor, and hesitate to try it without any knowledge of how to do it, lest i fry my system. 2.3 seems a little low compared to the cpu's other people run, but idk.

i ran cpu-z on my comp to give you guys an idea what my system is running at. if i can safely make some changes to get my cpu runnin a little faster, id appreciate it. oh, as far as cooling goes, ive got 3 case fans besides the psu and gfx card fans.

i cant figure out how to cut and paste cpu-z so ill just type the stuff i hope matters
cpu- amd phenom x4 9600 black edition. package- socket am2+ (940). core voltage- 1.26v. core speed- 2300.0 mhz multiplier X11.5 bus speed 200mhz ht link 1800 mhz.

heres the stats from cpu-z for my card.
clocks- core 300mhz. shaders-600mhz. memory- 100mhz. memory size- 512 mb type-gddr3 bus width-256bits

if theres any other info i need to post let me know.

thanks in advance for any help.

Sounds like a driver issue. Either update your Nvidia GTS 250 card driver or go revert to an older one. and i highly adoubt a phenom x4 9600 will struggle playing WoW thats definetly not the bottleneck. Good luck

Hi, :hello:

Same here, I would get 60fps in most places but only 40+fps in Dalaran City...what is really strange is I go inside the Dalaran Bank & I'm back up to 60fps. I no longer play WoW at this time. :(

I play Runes of Magic a MMORPG that is free & it's a WoW clone

ive seen lots of people that get 25 frames continuously regardless and their system specs are way lower than mine. i wouldnt even mind 15. but 5 is freaking unplayable =[ ive updated my drivers, im even using hybrid sli w/ the on-board graphics. this is really only a problem w/ wow, other games with much higher sys. req.s' play on the highest settings without fault. the reason i thought it was an issue w/ my cpu is because wow has alot heavier load on your processor than your gfx card. i was just wondering if my cpu was running at the proper voltage and core clock and if not what i should change it to. i see people with processors at like 4000mhz, just wondering if its safe to do that and if i can improve on the 2300mhz my cpu is at.
