ok so, i want to build a new pc with using an ati 4850, but i was wondering is it worth it to spend more money and get a crossfire enabled mobo. im just a bit skeptical because maybe sometime in the future nvidia will release some pretty awesome card, so i dont know if i want to buy a corssfire enabled board, so should i invest the money and buy an enabled crossfired mobo or not?

There is no such thing as a future proof computer. I've used crossfire and liked the improvements on fps on large high resolution lcd's. So much so I just ordered two 4870's today. Your going to find more motherboards avalible with crossfire support then nVidia's SLI. Now when it comes to games some have better support for SLI and others have better support for Crossfire.

What you really need to look at is the size of your monitor and the resolution your running to see if either will benifit your system.

basically all intel chipsets support crossfire (i think?)

and only nvidia boards support SLI.

crossfire only helps your in very high resolutions like 1920x1280 and so on.
