A friend just gave me a pentium 4 2.93 cpu, problem is its got a 533fsb, and the latest boards only support 800,1066,1333, and 1666 fsb. He has a xp2500 based system with a radeon 9800 right now, i was gonna upgrade him to ddr2 memory and pcie 16 so he could game a little better now, and maybe drop a faster cpu in there down the line. I need a board that can support the 533fsb all the way up to the 1333 fsb, he is a good kid and has been cutting my lawn all summer, so im getting him a radeon 4650, and 2gb ddr2, and a gaming case.

you need a really old mobo for that cpu

thats a socket 478 chip the latest are 775 - that cpu will not work on anything made in last 2 years
keep in mind you going down the wrong street, that cpu has use to only someone that needs one for an old system.

to put any money into that cpu is really waste, you can get a better celron for $20. i suggest you go with a new cpu that is cheap, low end core 2, can be found for $40 or less.

The mobo will be a lot less expensive and less headaches

I pulled the chip, it is most definatedly a 775 chip, @ the other poster i thought intel board had different voltages and fsb, and were not backward compatible, if thats the case i'll get a invida board.

Assuming the socket is LGA775, these are your options http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010200280+1070710669+1070509908&Configurator=&Subcategory=280&description=&Ntk=&SpeTabStoreType=&Order=BESTMATCH&srchInDesc=
