Can I be safe in assuming for the next 6 months a high clocked dual core will be fine foe gaming and wont fall for games multithreaded and optimised for quad cores?

Yeah. I wish i still had my 4.75Ghz E8500 rig. That chip kicked ass. I can't wait till they drop the price of the E8600
