If it is anything like my 8.8s, it will forget to boil the water, add sugar when I don't want it and then serve it in a glass instead of a mug. And I'll have to milk my own cow for milk.

Heh heh...I think I am going to pass up on the 8.8 drivers. Haven't seen any good reasons to switch over yet. Are you having issues with them Abyss?

Reply to SpinachEater

Theres increases in 4 games that Ive heard. But thats on only certain cards too. Expreview and tweaktowns has reviews on them

Hmm, yeah, I don't play AC or DMC and don't care too much about 3Dmark scores. Expreview does have a nice comparison chart though....to the point.

So far the 8.8 drivers have been stable, but I haven't really noticed any improvements with them. I benchmarked crysis, FPS dropped by 1, no big deal there.

Im thinking the next drivers will be better towards performance. Too many bug fixes to do yet, so itll be more drawn out than usual. But the 8.9 should please

Performance seemed to drop in Warhammer Online. I'll be rolling back to 8.7 tonight.

LOL, I've been hearing this since the 8.6's were released. It's like I said in the other thread, I buy a card based on the performance of the drivers that are out, while the card may improve over time I am not expecting anything to drastic...

Then dont look at the 3870x2 or the 1900xtx or the 3870. You might like what you see, but it wouldnt change your mind anyways

Facial textures in the Witcher are blurred on my 4850 on all max @ 1680x1050
I hope this new driver fixes that

Do the 8.8's support quake 3 stuff now? Would Jedi Academy work now? I think I'll install them and then JK3 and try it out

The setting for the A.I. are not saved with my profile. I have to modify them every time I start windows. Is it normal?

Well 3 multiplayer maps work now. And only the first two singleplayer maps work. If I try any other map it just freezes and says Jedi Academy encountered a problem and stopped working. At least it kinda works now.....

The final insult - 8.8s now refuse to work with my Spyder2 Pro. This is essential for screen calibration for any photopgrapher.

This morning a whole new bug greeted me - I wakened the PC, and the CCC had switched my primary monitor from one to the other. Easily fixed but just stupid and annoying.

8.9 is the last chance for my 4870 - any more grief and it goes on the bay.
