Nvidia drivers doing gpu physics processing?

Ive read a while ago about some nvidia drivers take took advantage over gpu physics processing power. Does it really work?
I mean, do the latest drivers version of nvidia still suports it (legally)?
If so, would it help my athlon 64 3500+ with geforce 9600gt to squeeze more frames out of ut3? :D

More about nvidia drivers physics processing
  1. You wont get better frame rates, just more eye candy/game interaction, thus, fewer fps
  2. oh thats a shame..eye candy is good, but in a fast paced game fps is better, and i was holding my breath it would increase my fps in some way..
