Would this work? Do you see any potential problem?
I've never done overclocking before. I may try to overrclock this new system a few months from now after the system is built and stable. Do I need a CPU cooler? Any suggestion for what I should get and can fit with GIGABYTE mother board and Lian-Li case?

I also read about the HD 4870 can get pretty hot. Should I get a GPU cooler as well? Thanks

I would suggest upgrading the mobo to a good x38/48.
+1 for aftermarket cooler. It wouldn't make sense to buy AS5 and use stock heatsink.
People generally enjoy Xigmatek. I've had a great time with Zalman.
Anyway, they're both great.

I have that same motherboard and it works fine with a single 4870, it is a perfect setup if you dont plan on CF in the future. I personally am not sold on CF and by the time I am looking to upgrade my video card I would get a larger performance increase from buying a new generation card.

But if you are plannin on CF in the future then it would be worth it to get a x38 or x48 board.

I would also suggest an aftermarket cooler for your CPU xigmatek is good, it is just very tall, make sure your case can fit it, I like Lian Li's quality as far as cases go.

The 4870 cools perfectly fine if you just bump up the fan speed.

Otherwise your build looks good.

Any particular model for the Xigmatek and Zalman. Do they fit into the Lian-Li? Some reviews mention that these coolers, especially the Xigamtek, are big.

df1 - Thumbs up on your build I like all of it!

As far as the xigmatek cooler, do some research, maybe on the website of the case manufacturer or the cooler manufacturer. They may have some information (in their forums?) as to if the cooler will fit the case.

The most popular xigmatek heatsink that everyone is talking about is the 1283 Rifle, if you haven't already figured this out. It's a very good cooler.
