I assume you are running 64bit OS?

Doesn't that board have onboard LAN? According to Newegg, it has gigabit onboard LAN...it also has onboard 8 channel sound. Just thought I would make mention of that in case you didn't want to pay extra.

I take it you are going with a Vista 64bit OS? Otherwise more than 4GB is a waste.
Have you considered upgrading to a Q9450? Double the L2 Cache and a better OC'ing multiplier.

Doesn't your motherboard come with a Network port or two already? Do you really need an extra?

I give it no more than two posts before someone suggests going with an Intel chipset mobo and
an ATI video card. Can be more economical, but I have a GTX280 so thumbs up for you from me.

Well I don't wanna let hyperjoe down so I'll go ahead and recommend an Intel chipset over the nVidia one, as well as an ATI card!

nVidia motherboards are generally just not as good; weaker overclocking, less stability, ect but check out some reviews for yourself too so you can be sure.

I'd go with an X48 board and a 4870 card so that you may add a second 4870 down the road (Crossfire) once prices drop or during a big sale (Black Friday, Boxing Week).

You could also do a P45 board, though with a 4870 I don't think I would Crossfire them on P45 because they only would run at x8 PCI 2.0 (vs x16 on X48). If you went with two 4850s, then I would say x8/x8 P45 would probably be alright.

I'd go for the Western Digital 640gb hard drive, it's a fast and solid performer.

EDIT: Doh, prematurely clicked... that's normal though, right?? :)

You shouldn't need a network card, it'll be built into your motherboard. Same for the sound card, most onboard sound is pretty good these days. If you really don't like it, then you could buy a discrete sound card but I'd wait and try onboard first.

If you plan on overclocking you'll want an aftermarket heatsink like the Sunbeam Core Contact or Xigmatek. With the Xigmatek you'll need to buy the sold seperately retention bracket for mounting it.

Vista 64 like they mentioned if you're going with 4gb+ of memory.

You can save ~$25 by looking at the Coolermaster 690 case. It has great airflow and room to hide cables if you choose. Add a couple 120mm fans in addition to the ones included and you'll have a very OC-friendly box (temp wise).

Good luck!

Jevon said it all. I'd just add that the Xigmatek model he's thinking of is HDT-S1283. It does fit on the GA-X48-DS4, for example.

If you prefer cases with lights, Antec 900 or NZXT Tempest are good.
