:( i have a newly-built system with the following specs:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-ep35
Processor: E7200 Intel Core 2 duo 2.53 ghz
Graphics card: Evga 8800gt
RAM: 2gb
HDD space: 250 gb

I get 30 fps on games like Halo 2, HL2:ep2, CS:S and such (most of the time), and it's playable. But when I'm in an outdoors environment in-game, the fps drops to around 5-15, and when there's action it's almost unplayable. Is this something I can fix, or do i have a bad card? (I really expected around 20-25 fps for outdoor environments. the fps being this low surprises me.)

download GPU-z and post a screenshot of it here.
Is Speedstep on in the bios?
you should be getting 100+ frames in HL2.

Weird, I can't seem to find the speedstep option in the BIOS. Is it supposed to be there?

[edit]
cpu-z says Processor is running at 1.6 GHz, Not 2.53. maybe that's the problem?

i think it is sometimes called EDH1 or something. give me a minute and ill edit htis post with the real name.
your card seems to be configured properly according to GPU-z so the card might not be the problem.

in the meantime, download CPU-z and watch the cpu speed when at idle and when you start a demanding app. If the multiplier (example 8.8x) is changing, then speedstep is enabled.

dammit customise igot an E4400 that wont go above 2.1 GHz without crashing :@ worst VID on the planet i tell you -_-

im pretty sure every e4400 will go to 2.7 with the stock cooler. my motherboard is junk so that is why mine is stuck at 2.66 and 1.26 volts. super unstable. i can't do any video converting or else it will shut off immediately.
