Q8400 [stock] showing only 2.0 GHz in CPU-Z..?

Hi all,

I have a question about my Q8400. It's not yet overclocked but I will try to do just that after, hopefully, getting some much needed answers.

Here's my first question :

When running CPU-Z it says that the core speed is only 2000.4 Mhz (see screenshot

). Can anyone please explain why? It's supposed to run at 2.66 Ghz..

power saving feature it only goes higher when needed

Yeah multiplier drops to 6 when idling.
Run a Prime95 torture test in the background and you'll see the frequency and multiplier pop back up straight away.
