Hi,

my friend asked me to help him building a new comp and that is what we were thinking about.

CPU: Q9450
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819115042
Motherboard: Asus P5Q-e
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813131296
RAM:2 set of those
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820145184
HDD: 2 Seagate Barrucuda 500GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] %2b7200.11
DVD: Random samsung dvd writer
Video Card: Palit HD4870
PSU: Corsair 750w
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] %2bcorsair
Case: Nzxt Apollo
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6811146025
CPU Cooler: Xigmatech HDT-S1283
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] &Tpk=s1283

We live in Canada and we will buy our stuff mainly from directcanada and ncix for a total of 1550.
We were wondering if:
-any of you had any idea to improve it before we buy it (while keeping it in the same price range).
-is there any issue with the P5Q-E and the S1283?
-Does the S1283 comes with pre-applied thermal grease?

Only things we don't want to change are:
-CPU must be a quad
-We don't want to change the case unless some componants won't fit.

My friend is planning to OC his CPU to 3-3,2Ghz and change his video card along the road.

Any comments are appreciated, thanks.

you can get the Q9450 wiith a combo deal with Corsair PSU 620W
for the HDD i think WD 640GB one's is a little better deal than Seagate on's

Everything looks fine, except P5Q.
P5Q is a P45 mobo, it doesn't gives you a full 2x x16 Xfire. So if you want the optimum solution for Xfire, get a X38 or X48 mobo.
HDT-S1283 works fine with most mobos, I have never encountered any problem. The only problem that I have ever got is if the case is too small.
I think Apollo will do just fine.
Hmmm...don't forget the bracket for HDT-S1283!

Get the mounting bracket for the Xigma, push pin mounting sucks

I've never seen anyone complain about any issues with it and the P5Q
solid build

@Chechnyan: I wil check for the combo

@Guanyu: He does't plan to do a crossfire build but just to change the card to a 6870 or whatever will be out in 2 years.

As for the bracket, I can't find some (in sotck) in canada, would any bracket fit or I really need the ACK-I7753?

If i can't find the bracket or only get them later on, can the pushpins would do it? I mean, i know they can be a pain to place, but once you placed them, it will work fine right?
