Bios is assigning different irq than windows

Last response: in Windows XP
Share

Hello, I have a Dell 830 Power Edge Server and am trying to get a Promise TX4310 RAID card installed. It appears that the BIOS is assigning an IRQ which I can manually change to either 3,5,7, but Windows is assigning IRQ 35. The cards driver install ok, but why I try and initialize the drive from the Disk Management, the computer reboots. Any ideas how I can resolve this issue?
Thanks muchos!!!

Your problem may not have anything to do with IRQ's. Windows manages IRQ's itself, despite what the BIOS may send it.

XP cannot initialize a drive like Windows 2000 could. In XP, the drive must be pre-initialized.
I have a hard drive initializing program at 4Shared.com that can help you.
It is an 'ISO' image file you must download and burn to CD, It is bootable or the program can be installed in XP for daily use.
