Hi, I build a computer one year ago with the following specs:
MB: Asus P5K deluxe
CPU: Q6600
RAM: 2gb corsair dominator
Video: Foxconn 7900 GS
PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower 600 W
4 HDD+ 1 external, 2 optic units

The problem appeared yesterday. In the morning i was still working on some projects (after an allnighter), then in the evening as i tried to start my computer it began powering on and off in short intervals (<1sec) like trying to power on repeatedly. In the meantime the case led was blinking like crazy. I shut the computer down by the back switch of the case and then tried again. This time it powers up HDD, CDRW, DVDRW, fans, but no video signal and no keyboard. And especially no beep from the mobo. After 2-3 sec it shuts down and then powers up again with the same simptoms and stays like this indefinetly this time( no video, no beep from the mobo, no keyboard, etc. )
I have tried resetting CMOS, tried taking all out except CPU and MB, tried different power-cord:) tried taking the RAM off..

Thanks in advance for Your advice...I am pretty panicked as I have a lot of work and no machine to work on.

Sounds like bad power....did you have a thunderstorm recently that it mightve gotten zapped? Try swapping out the PSU.

either that or youre just dreaming it happened....with the all nighter and all :)

I agree, power supply is a likely suspect. Do you have an alternate you can try?

Also, does your case have a speaker? You need to hear the beep code if there is one.

Can you even get into the BIOS screen? Try reseating your graphics card or try it in the other PCI-E slot.

Try booting with each RAM module individually and also try running Memtest86+ to test your RAM.

Verify all power cables are securely connected.

Try building the computer outside of the case as a last resort. This will eliminate the possibility that the motherboard is being shorted by the case.

:D:D It was no dream...after 12 hours sleep the same thing is still happening.

I tried a different video card and it still doesn't show any screen activity.
The beep from the mobo misses ( although the case speaker is connected), the bios doesn't start at all as far i can tell.
The monitor remains in the stand-by mode.
I tried booting with one RAM ...still nothing.
I want to find today another PSU to try it with that one.
If that still doesn't solve the problem i will try rigging it outside the case and finally i will buy another MB.
The thing is i have another PSU, but it's only 360 W so when i tried it didn't do anything. I must try with a more powerful one.

Oh by the way...i have a special outlet with all kinds of protection against power surges and there were no special weather events that night. Changing the MB is a very time consumig bussiness...i hope it does't come to that

i also think it's the psu
in most cases, when the psu is the problem, u don't hear a bip
in memory/mobo failure u do
try next time to buy a good one and not TT, they have alot of problems
